Pitchers for the next three games (tonight's, tomorrow's and the next day's), are 'locked in' in advance. So, at any given time, your next three pitchers have already been locked in. The five slots after these locked in starts are still available for strategic positioning, as long as you adhere to the 3 days' rest rule.
Each night when the BBM game engine runs, it will take the starter that is slated to start the fourth game out, and move him to the last 'locked' position. So, if it's Monday, you will need to decide today who will start Thursday's game and place him in that first available position. Be careful, though because it IS possible to have a blank in that slot, meaning the game engine will not have any starter locked in for that game. If this occurs, what is locked in is 'NO starter,' meaning your bullpen will have to come up with the innings necessary to complete the game. It is impossible to alter a locked starter – even if that starter is a blank spot – so please be sure to lock the correct starter in for each game.
