First of all, you need to have an open roster spot before you can sign a free agent. Your roster consists of 28 total players (25 active and 3 in the minors). If your roster has fewer than 28 players, you do not need to release a player in order to add a free agent. Your team roster (Team Name link on the League page) will show 'Open' positions if you have fewer than 28. If you have 28 players, you must decide which player you will release in order to claim a free agent.
