The most tell-tale sign that a manager has gone 'ROBO' is that the team has many 'line-up holes'. Line-up holes occur when a manager fails to field a complete team for a BBM game. While these holes will occur from time to time for any team, (particularly in Ultimate leagues given the challenges of fielding full lineups against both lefty and righty pitchers), or from trading a player and failing to replace him in the starting lineup, a team that regularly shows a line-up hole, or one that has multiple line-up holes for many days in a row, is most likely a ROBO. Another sign, especially if these lineup holes seem to be due to the players running out of stats, is that the manager fails to make free agent claims to bolster their lineup.
These are the usual signs that someone has not looked in on their team, nor made reasonable adjustments to the lineup, such that the team becomes non-competitive. Most BBM managers recognize ROBO teams and chalk up games against them as 'automatic' wins. While it is not a guarantee that you will always win against a ROBO team, it is a strong likelihood. Once again, though, it is a 'cheap' win, and other managers in your league will also get the same kind of 'cheap' wins against these ROBO teams. Thus, it evens out for everybody. If you enjoy true competition in a league of active managers, you will avoid ROBOs if at all possible.
