If Chuck Thielman manages with the wisdom of a man who holds a fantasy baseball doctorate, there's good reason for it: Chuck is an original BBM manager, a member of the elite group of veterans who have played BBM since its inception. Typically managing two teams a year, Chuck brilliantly built a potent pitching staff that carried the Barons to the championship.

"The key for my Barons this year was pitching, getting outstanding seasons from Oswalt, Schmidt, Webb, and Lackey and picking up free agents Zumaya ($112k) and F. Liriano($139k)," Chuck said, wiping away the stinging champagne from his eyes as he accepted the Commissioner's Championship trophy in the clubhouse after clinching. "I'd like to say that I knew all of these guys would have superior seasons in 2006, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I did not lead the league all season, but as great wire-to-wire seasons from such players as Albert Pujols, Jim Thome, Miguel Tejada, Manny Ramirez and Vernon Wells carried on, I gradually climbed up the standings to win my league."

Rather than reveling in this title triumph and taking advantage of his lifetime free tab at the BBM Bar and Grill, the Barons brain trust have vowed to commit the entire organization to a combined cause: successfully defending their title in 2007.

"To me, BBM makes even 'meaningless' Major League Baseball games enjoyable, since I'll stay up late watching TV some evenings just to see how one of my players performs or to scout a player that I'm considering adding to my roster," Chuck said. "It allows me to enjoy all the fun parts of being a general manager without all the headaches that the real life GMs have to deal with. Thanks for offering the best fantasy baseball game on the market. I'm sure I'll be playing for many years to come!"
